    Cycling fundraiser supplies books to SLPS schools

    Biking4Books will hold its second annual cycling event on Saturday, April 26, 2014. The event raises funds to purchase books for Saint Louis Public Schools. Participants can preregister or register on the day of the event.

    Cyclists will depart from Patrick Henry Downtown Academy at 10 a.m. Supporters are welcome and encouraged to attend. All proceeds from registration and sponsors will be used to purchase textbooks for the following SLPS elementary schools this year:

    ·         Adams Elementary School

    ·         Ashland Elementary School

    ·         Patrick Henry Downtown Academy

    ·         Laclede Elementary School

    ·         Lexington Elementary School

    All donations are tax deductible.

    COURSE: 10-, 25- and 50-mile options

    Biking4Books was founded by two high school students who are avid bikers—Faraz Ahmad and Safi Ahmad of John Burroughs School. They joined forces with Barry Bryant, an alumnus of Adams Elementary School, to organize the Biking4Books cycling event last spring. More than 100 cyclists participated in the 2013 event.
