SLPS representatives to visit local churches, encourage first-day attendance,
and emphasize a great start to the 2013-14 school yearST. LOUIS, MO. August 8, 2013 – SLPS Superintendent Kelvin R. Adams and Special Administrative Board President Rick Sullivan—along with 20 other St. Louis Public Schools representatives—are scheduled to speak at local churches on Sunday to re-energize SLPS families heading into the 2013-14 school year.
For Our Schools Sunday is an annual event scheduled the day before school starts. Classes for K-12 students start Monday, August 12. Early childhood programs begin the following Monday, August 19. The event provides parents with valuable information about the upcoming year. District representatives will also stress the importance of attending school daily—including the first day of classes.
Dr. Adams is scheduled to speak at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 5515 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at 8:10 a.m. and 11:10 a.m.
Mr. Sullivan is scheduled to speak at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 915 N. Taylor Avenue, at
9:15 a.m.; Samaritan United Methodist Church, 4234 Washington Boulevard, around 11 a.m.; and Central Baptist Church, 2842 Washington Avenue, at 11:45 a.m.Participating churches:
