Dewey International Studies Elementary School is a unique school which integrates the study of world languages into the elementary curriculum. Dewey offers the following world languages: Chinese and Spanish. Students begin world language studies at preschool with a rotation through each of the languages. Beginning in third grade, students specialize in a language of their choice. Additionally, each classroom at Dewey adopts a country of study to continue the international theme into the regular classroom. Teachers infuse the study of the adopted country into their standards-based curriculum.
Dewey offers a variety of resources, including ESOL and Gifted Education. Dewey also has numerous partnerships, including MICDS Tutors, Junior Achievement, Spring Board for Learning and OASIS Tutors.

Dewey is always seeking volunteers to participate in school activities! Please contact Dr. Suzanne Murphy if you are interested in volunteering. You must have an approved application on file to interact with students, incluidng assisting with field trips.
