    Back-to-School FESTIVAL Set For August 3rd

    Event Features Free School Supplies, Haircuts and Licensing Fair

     

    ST. LOUIS, MO, July 30, 2013 The St. Louis Public School District will once again join forces with the St. Louis Community Empowerment Foundation to present the 2013 St. Louis Public Schools Back to School & Community Empowerment Festival on Saturday, August 3, from 9:00am until 1:00p.m.     

     

    This community-wide effort combines the St. Louis Public Schools annual back to school fair with the Community Empowerment Foundations back to school festival to create a grand event inside and outside of St. Louis University’s Chaifetz Arena, #1 Compton Ave.  

     

    The St. Louis Public Schools Back to School & Community Empowerment Festival will feature more than 100 vendor booths providing various support services such as:

     

    ·         School registration

    ·         Free and/or reduced lunch applications and support

    ·         Notary services

    ·         Transportation enrollment and support

    ·         Health information

    ·         Family resources

    ·         Health screenings

    ·         Business licensing fair

    ·         Hair cuts

    Free backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed to students while supplies last.  In addition, games, rides, gifts, prizes, and free food will be available for all attendees.  Free parking will be available at the Saint Louis University garage on Compton and Olive, as well as on the Harris Stowe State University campus.  Shuttle services will also be provided at select locations.  

     

    Admission to the festival is FREE; however, all in attendance must register.  Attendees are encouraged to avoid the registration lines on the day of the event by pre-registering online at www.slps.org/festival.
