Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School has been named a NFL PLAY 60 Super School. Each year, 34 schools across the country are recognized as NFL PLAY 60 Super Schools for their efforts to combat childhood obesity.

The honor includes a $10,000 NFL PLAY 60 youth health and wellness grant and a visit from NFL players, mascots, cheerleaders, and other team personnel. Carr Lane students and staff were delighted to welcome wide receivers Chris Givens and Austin Pettis, two cheerleaders, and the mascot Rampage.

Since the program’s inception, more than $1 million has been distributed to deserving schools across the country impacting more than 60,000 students and funding projects like climbing walls, walking trails, new PE equipment, refurbished fitness zones, and much more.

The check was presented to Carr Lane Principal Cornelius Green by Neal Gilb, government relations manager at Charter Communications, which is an NFL PLAY 60 program partner.
