Saint Louis Public Schools

Busch Middle School of Character and Nottingham CAJT High School were be among 12 schools state-wide to be named a Missouri School of Character at a ceremony held recently at Busch Middle School of Character. This historic announcement marks the first time ever an SLPS school has earned the Missouri School of Character designation.  Both schools have worked closely with CharacterPlus® to achieve this designation.

Busch Middle School is under the direction of Principal Rob Lescher.  Nottingham CAJT is guided by Principal Brian O'Connor.  These schools have demonstrated that their focus on character development has had a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior and school climate.  Nationally, only 80 schools received the honor this year.  

Recognition as a State School of Character is a prerequisite to Character.org's National Schools of Character (NSOC) program. The goal is to recognize schools and districts that demonstrate an exemplary level of implementation of the Eleven Principles of Effective Character Education (http://character.org/more-resources/11-principles).

Missouri Schools of Character is an initiative of Character.org in collaboration with CharacterPlus® and is sponsored by the St. Louis Rams.  A State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant was awarded to CharacterPlus® for its work with Busch Middle School and also to develop the CharacterPlus® Principal’s Cadre in Saint Louis Public Schools.
