Last week, the Gateway STEM High School FIRST Robotics Team 931 (along with mentors and family) traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., for the Smoky Mountains Regional FIRST Robotics competition. After many aggressive matches, the team of 20 students and nine coaches proudly brought home the silver “Finalist” medal and trophy. The competition was held March 27-29.

“Our Chairman’s Award team of Christian Stinson, Reid Chunn and Taylor Powell did a great job with significant score improvement over their previous presentation,” said Frank Dressel, team coach and teacher at Gateway STEM. “Our resourceful pit crew was led by Brendan Dressman. Scouting was led by Shelby Trolinger. The four-man field crew included Driver Reid Chunn, Operator Ethan Starry, Human Player Chris Johnson, and Coach Myra Farmer.”
