Today marked the final day of summer school throughout SLPS, and students enjoyed fun games and programs on a variety of educational themes.

From “Science Through Lego Engineering” at Peabody eMINTS Academy to “Under the Sea” at AESM-Elementary to “Animals Around the World” at Nance Elementary, kids created hands-on projects to entertain their classmates on the last day of school.

At Ford Elementary, kids focused on the theme “A Healthier You.” Along with creating posters and other displays, students gave a live performance on the topic.

At Gateway Middle, the theme of the day was a town favorite … “Baseball.” Kids gathered in the hallway to watch videos—featuring fellow students—about past Cardinal players. Upstairs, students paired off to “play” baseball with board games they had created. Spin the wheel and see if you advance or strike out. In another classroom, students applied Sir Isaac Newton’s laws of motion to baseball.

As the activities drew to a close, buses started lining up, ready to take students home. See you back in class on Monday, August 12!
