The Rams star running back went on to share a poem with the students.  He wrote the poem when he was only 10-years-old. The poem was about his dreams of becoming a player in the NFL. After he read the poem, the children erupted in applause.  Walbridge students know about poetry - the school is the St. Louis Champions of last year's Poetry Slam.

Before ending his chat with the students, Jackson told them that although he did not know them individually, he wanted them to know that he truly loved them.  He said children can't hear those words enough and they should tell their parents and others how much they love them.

The Steven Jackson Charitable Fund, in partnership with The Little Bit Foundation, presented a winter hat and a pair of gloves to each student at Walbridge Elementary School during SJ 39's visit.  One by one, the students came to the front of the gymnasium to receive their gift and meet Jackson.
