• ST. LOUIS, MO.  November 8, 2012 – Approximately 1,000 students from across the state competed in the preliminary round of the Missouri Entrepreneurship Challenge developed by the Missouri Council on Economic Education. 

     

    Working in teams of five, students were asked design a sports or entertainment themed business which was then reviewed by a team of independent judges. Out of the 100 business plans submitted for review, only 20 have been selected to advance to the finals held November 13th at Missouri Western University Craig School of Business in St. Joseph. 

     

    “The judges were extremely impressed with the creative ideas, but perhaps more importantly, the thoughtful planning demonstrated by these students,” said Mike English, President & CEO of the Missouri Council on Economic Education, in a release.

     

    Two plans advancing for the finals were developed by teams from Gateway STEM High School.  Please congratulate:

    During the final round of the Missouri Entrepreneurship Challenge, the 20 teams in attendance will be randomly paired in order to make 10 teams of 10 students. The teams will be working with a facilitator to design a new business plan. After developing the business plan, the teams will be given five minutes to show the judges why their business plan is worthy of investment.  Each member of the winning team will receive a $100 check and a scholarship to attend Missouri Western University to major in business.
