• 5 SLPS Teachers Surprised With OfficeMax’s “A Day Made Better” Award

    ST. LOUIS, MO. October 3, 2012–There were smiles all around as OfficeMax representatives visited five (5) St. Louis Public School District (SLPS) schools to present “A Day Made Better” awards to unsuspecting teachers.  Each of the five teachers received $1,000 in school supplies as part of OfficeMax’s school advocacy program.

    The purpose of “A Day Made Better” is to help erase teacher-funded classrooms.  Now in its sixth year, “A Day Made Better” is a nation-wide program, which honors 1,000 teachers on October 2ndof every year.  The OfficeMax school advocacy program provides $1 Million in classroom supplies to the program, with an additional $900,000 donated by customers and business clients to provide additional supplies for the winning teachers’ schools.

    “A Day Made Better” winning teachers were nominated for the award by their respective principals for demonstrating passion, dedication and innovation in their classrooms.   SLPS winners for 2012 are:

                ·        Stephanie Penrose (3rdgrade teacher, Woerner Elementary School)

    ·        Corliss Henry (4thgrade teacher, Columbia Elementary School)

    ·        Sarah Overmann (5thgrade teacher, Woodward Elementary School)

    ·        Carolyn Cox (3rdgrade teacher, Oak Hill Elementary School)

    ·        Tyler Archer (Middle School Communication Arts, Lyon Academy @ Blow School)
