     Rotary Club of St. Louis Presents the SLPS Young Citizens’ Award

    ST. LOUIS, MO. October 11, 2012 – The Rotary Club of St. Louis today presented the Young Citizen Award to 28 high school seniors in the St. Louis Public School District. The award winners were nominated by their respective principals. The Rotary Club of St. Louis has now presented the Young Citizen Award for three years to SLPS seniors.

    This award, funded through a grant provided by the Rotary Club of St. Louis to the St. Louis Public Schools Foundation, recognizes one female and one male student from each SLPS high school. The Young Citizen Award is presented to students who have excelled academically, maintained exemplary school attendance, exhibited good citizenship, and made significant community service contributions.

    As awardees, students honored during the St. Louis Rotary Club luncheon are presented with a framed certificate signed by the St. Louis Rotary Club president, Maureen Concannon. They also receive a $100 gift card.

    The Class of 2013 Young Citizen Award winners are: Tierra Webb and Davion Wilson (Beaumont),Damani Hanks and Tayler Tate(Carnahan), Xavier Bady and Rashonda Wallace (Central VPA), Jacob Lindsey and La’Precious Tyson(Cleveland NJROTC), Destiny Crockett and Marqualo McDaniels (Miller Career Academy), Techon Roy and Dayshu Youong (College Prep High School @ Madison), Davontae Anderson and Chelsea Vanduyne (Gateway STEM), Kathryn Garnier and James Guerin (McKinley CLA), Ben Trask and Kallice Walker (Metro), Trevonte Brock and Catina Jones(Northwest Law Academy),Shamir Fernandez and Jasmine Steed (Roosevelt), Taylor Butler and Da’Vione Johnson(Soldan), Raymond Stepney Jr. and Ka’Shauna Summlin (Sumner) and Deion Davis and Joyce Jackson (Vashon).

    The Rotary Club of St. Louis has a history of more than 100 years of community service. Its mission is to create a network of community and business people to accomplish the common goal of making a difference in the greater St. Louis region and the world, by contributing their time, talent and financial resources.
