• ST. LOUIS, MO. April 18, 2012 – Today, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation released the names of the Corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholars from the State of Missouri who are competing in the 57th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.  Today’s winners were selected based on a combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

                                  

    Zara Graves, a senior at Metro Academic & Classical Academy, has been awarded the NATIONAL MERIT WILLIAM E. CORNELIUS/AMEREN CORPORATION SCHOLARSHIP.  According to the press release issued by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, the Ameren Corporation recognizes today's demand for highly-trained, well-educated individuals.  Scholarships, supported by Ameren Corporation Charitable Trust for children of employees, broaden the company's aid-to-education program and provide tangible evidence of the company's interest in quality education.

     

    Zara Graves plans to study Computer Engineering and has been accepted to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Stevens Institute of Technology, and the University of Texas at Dallas.  Both Stevens Institute of Technology and the University of Texas at Dallas have offered Graves full-ride scholarships to attend their campuses.

     

    Today’s announcement represents the first list of the National Merit Scholars in 2012 by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). NMSC will name recipients of the National Merit $2,500 scholarships on May 2, and the winners of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards on May 23 and July 9.
