• ST. LOUIS, MO – February 14, 2012 Students at Metro A&C High School in St. Louis today received certification in financial literacy after completing the Regions Bank Financial Scholars program. Regions Bank has made the program available to high schools across St. Louis as part of an initiative to make innovative financial education available to all students. This web-based program uses the latest in new media technologies – video, animations, 3-D gaming, avatars, and social networking – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation.

     

    The certification event, held at Metro A&C High School in St. Louis, included remarks from Missouri State Treasurer Hon. Clint Zweifel, Comptroller of the City of St. Louis Hon. Darlene Green, License Collector of the City of St. Louis. Hon. Michael McMillan, St. Louis Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kelvin R. Adams, and Regions Bank Area President Sally Roth.

     

    “Financial education is a major priority for Regions Bank,” said Regions Area President Sally Roth. “We are extremely pleased to bring this program at no cost to the St. Louis City Schools. It is our belief that students need a better understanding of how to manage their personal finances, take control of their financial future and become smart consumers and investors.”

Clint Zweifel. “The partnership between Regions and St. Louis Public Schools represents a smart approach in which we are able to provide students with critical life skills. These skills protect them as growing consumers and help them succeed professionally.”


    Regions has partnered with EverFi, Inc. to bring this interactive financial management program to every high school in St. Louis, including Carnahan High School of the Future, Cleveland NJROTC Academy, Roosevelt High School – SLPS, Soldan International Studies High School, Sumner High School, and McKinley Classical Leadership Academy. The 10-unit course offers 6 hours of programming aimed at teaching, assessing and certifying students in a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. The EverFi curriculum is part of the half-semester course on Personal Finance required by the state of Missouri.
