ST. LOUIS, MO, September 19, 2011 – The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released the final Annual Performance Report (APR) data for all public school districts in Missouri. The St. Louis Public School District received six (6) APR points towards accreditation. The preliminary report released in August showed SLPS with only four (4) APR points.
“We are excited to continue moving in the right direction,” said Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams. “St. Louis Public School District students have shown academic improvement for four consecutive years. While there is still work to do, I want to congratulate the students and staff for their continuous efforts to improve academically each and every day. ”
The six accreditation points are the most St. Louis Public Schools has earned since the state’s accountability standards were last revised in 2006. SLPS earned accreditation points in 2011 by meeting the state’s performance standards in the following areas: Advanced Courses, Career Education Courses, College Placement, Career Education Placement, Graduation Rate, and Bonus Map Achievement.
St. Louis Public Schools received five (5) accreditation points in 2010. The District earned three (3) points in 2009, four points in 2008, two points in 2007 and four points in 2006.
The St. Louis Public School District is currently unaccredited by the state of Missouri. However, all District high schools are individually accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement.
