ST. LOUIS, MO. May 15, 2012 –Four SLPS principals have been recognized as top educators in the region by the Peabody Energy Leaders in Education program, which supports educators who foster the future workforce and prepare students to compete in a global marketplace. This important investment helps to strengthen education for the next generation.
Selected throughout the school year by Peabody’s committee of top educators, and corporate and business leaders, the St. Louis Public School District is proud to recognize:
· Dr. Wanda LeFlore, principal at Kennard Classical Junior Academy
· Ms. Debra Leto, principal at Mason School of Academic and Cultural Literacy
· Mr. Brian O’Connor, principal at Nottingham Community Access & Job Training High School
· Dr. Amy Phillips, principal at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School
These four honorees each received a $1,000 grant in surprise ceremonies at their respective schools and will be recognized at an awards reception in August. In addition, they are now eligible to move on to the next stage of the program, which will name the 2011-2012 Peabody Energy Educator of the Year.
To vote, please visit www.facebook/PeabodyEnergyLeaders between May 15th and June 15th. The 2011-2012 Peabody Energy Educator of the Year will receive an additional $5,000 grant.
