The Sports Medicine program here at Gateway offers several oppurtunities for those whom are interested in both sports and science. While it is challenging and requires many longhours you will find that it is well worth the effort.

The purpose of the prgram is to prepare students to take the state Personal Trainer exam for which they will become eligable once they graduate from high school and are 18.

Sports Medicine involves a variety of career choices. The most commonly know career is that of an athletic trainer which can be from the high school level to profeesional sports. However, there are many different paths that one can take while pursing a career in sports medicine. Some include Nutritionis, exercise physiologist, and especially an Orthopedic Surgeon.

Of course, perhaps, the most important aspect of any career choice the job outlook. Since we have an aging population along with other factors the projected job growth over the next 10-20 years is approximately 6% per year. This means there will almost always be job oppurtunities available.
