     About the Teacher

Hello and welcome. I am a St. Louis native, born and raised in North County. I graduated from Hazelwood East High School and then went on to study at Florissant Valley Community College. I married and started a family while completing my studies and received an Associates degree in Applied Science Law Enforcement. After completing my degree, I became a stay-at-home mom, raising 2 boys. When my boys were old enough, I went to work and obtained a job with St. Louis County PD as a dispatcher. After numerous years here, I opted for a change and joined the USAF. I was stationed at McConnel AFB in Wichita, KS. I spent 7 1/2 years in the service and after my release, I stayed in Wichita for the next 30 years. I worked in law enforcement as a Wichita Police officer for 3 years and an Animal Control officer for 7 years.

After that, I realized that I wanted to fulfill my 2nd passion, education. I went back to school and received my Bachelor of Education degree with an emphasis on mathematics from Wichita State University. I promptly received a job with the Wichita Public School district and spent the next 10 years teaching high school mathematics at Southeast High School. During this time frame, I obtained my Masters of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Southwestern University. I received my current job here at Gateway Stem High School in 2016 and will be starting my 9th year.

In the fall of 2015, I moved back home to be with family, which included my parents, 2 sisters, who both live out of state, a brother, 2 sons, and 5 grandchildren. I now have 2 great-grandchildren.
