About Dr. H

  • Professional Highlights

    Dr. Arellano Haberberger is an educator, author, parent, and weirdo and has served as an educator in St. Louis City schools for 16 years. After receiving her Doctorate in Education in 2016, she spent six years teaching doctoral students and continues to serve on committees and edit dissertations. A passionate advocate for equity and justice for all, she is a recently certified yoga teacher and social emotional learning facilitator. In addition to teaching communication arts courses at Gateway, she is the integration expert for SEL programming. She is the literacy and SEL instructor and development manager for LitShop, a nonprofit providing girls* ages 10-18 with opportunities in reading, writing, making, and building. She resides in the High Pointe neighborhood with her stand-up comedian husband, two sons, four stepchildren, two dogs, cat, and snake (who also doubles as a class pet during the school year).

    Class Mission and Vision

    Mission: To improve the skills of all students who enter this classroom in the areas of reading, writing, and 21st century communication by providing a nurturing, inclusive, empathic, and relevant learning experience.

    Vision: To change the world by educating the next generation regarding what can be achieved when we unite under the banners of vulnerability, honesty, joy, and peace.

    Educational Philosophy

    An individual teacher’s classroom can heal the planet through the enrichment, nourishment, and love of the individual child. As one soul is linked to the collective, so is the classroom a bridge into the lives of tomorrow’s thinkers, leaders, prophets, and changemakers. By fostering a community of learners in which all give and all receive, the teacher can transform their classroom into a tiny universe of possibility, serving as a touchstone for our next generation regarding what can be achieved when we unite under the banners of vulnerability, honesty, joy, and peace.
