Mr. Terrence Watkins
I am excited to begin my second year as an Academic Instructional Coach (AIC) at Gateway STEM. I began my SLPS tenure as an ELA teacher at “The Great” Northwest Academy of Law in 2014. I then spent three years with the St. Louis Plan as a Consultant Teacher before transitioning to this role.
I am proud to say that I am St. Louis born, raised, and educated. I’ve earned a bachelor’s from Lindenwood University, a master’s from UM-St. Louis, and am currently a pursuing a doctoral degree in Educational Practice - Social Justice in Education. I hold certifications in ELA (Grades 5-9 and 9-12) and Special – Reading (K-12). I believe in the power of reading and enjoy the opportunity to help students develop strategies to improve their literacy – for school and beyond – and look forward to supporting the teachers at Gateway STEM help students toward that end, through providing instructional resources and professional development.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, all things related to sports (watching or playing) and spending time with family - especially my wife and our two girls.
