Ms. Jordan

Hi, my name is Sarah Jordan. As a Harris-Stowe State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, I aim to work as a history teacher and work with fresh young minds. I want to teach history and use history as a tool to connect with students. I desire to nurture young minds by helping them understand the linkages in history and the cause and effect of lessons we learn from the past.

As a teacher, I am committed to doing whatever I can to help my students learn and achieve their goals. I believe that creating and implementing great lesson plans will help every student better retain the subject. More importantly, I incorporate participatory activities, technology, guided practice, problem-based learning, and real-world applications to help students make progress and build on their skills. Through my short teaching experience thus far, I have found that facilitating rather than dictating is a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences, they will not only retain information longer, but they will also become more confident in their abilities.

I am so excited to be a part of the Gateway STEM family. Go Jags!
