• Ladue tops one high school ranking; Metro another

    Ladue Horton Watkins High School fared better on a Newsweek national rankings of high schools than any other school in Missouri.

    The school’s showing comes after it failed to score highly in a ranking by U.S. News & World Report that relied on a different methodology.

    The Newsweek ranking recognized schools “that have proven to be the most effective in turning out college-ready grads.” Among the 2,000 schools listed, Ladue ranked 166 nationwide.

    Other schools from the region making Newsweek’s top ten list for Missouri, in order of ranking, are Clayton High, Metro Academic and Classical High, Lindbergh High, Lafayette High, Kirkwood High, Francis Howell High, Parkway Central High and Parkway West.

    Meanwhile, in a different ranking by the Washington Post, eight schools from the St. Louis region are ranked among Missouri's most challenging high schools.

    That list, which looked at factors related to rigor of coursework and college readiness, shows Metro Academic and Classical as the most challenging in the state. The school also topped the Missouri list in theU.S. News ranking.)

    Others to make the Washington Post list from the region, in order, are: John Burroughs School, Ladue Horton Watkins High, Lafayette High, Marquette High, Lindbergh High, Kirkwood High, and Parkway West High.
