Your Pre-Kindergarten Choices
There are 2 different types of Pre-K program settings in Saint Louis Public Schools: Neighborhood and Magnet. Each program may offer various seat types, including general education, gifted and talented education and special education.
All Pre-K programs serve children with and without disabilities. If your child has an IEP (Individualized Education Program) that recommends a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) and/or related services only, these services can be provided in all Pre-K programs. If your child has an IEP that recommends an integrated or self-contained setting, the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) team will arrange for placement in an appropriate Pre-K special education setting, which is offered at select elementary schools. For more information about how SLPS serves students with disabilities or to request services, visit Early Childhood Special Education.
Neighborhood Elementary Schools
Neighborhood elementary schools offer pre-k programs to 3- and 4-year olds who have turned 3 or 4 prior to August 1st of the enrollment year. Consider these schools if your child already attends P3 at the school, has an older sibling already attending the school, or if you want your child to attend the school closest to his/her home. If you enroll online, you will be automatically assigned to your block assigned neighborhood school.
