Saint Louis Public School District
Health and Wellness Initiatives Evaluation for 2022-2023
Saint Louis Public School District evaluates the district’s health and wellness initiatives each year to improve upon health and wellness policies and practices and create sustainable healthy change in our schools. The district utilizes the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s evaluation tool, the School Health Index (SHI). The SHI is an evidence-based assessment/evaluation tool that aligns with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), and the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model.
The annual district assessment process is overseen by the SLPS Health and Wellness Committee co-chairs, Althea Albert Santiago and M. Leanne White. In addition to the oversight of the assessment, Wellness Committee members provide direct input during the evaluation process to complete a full and authentic assessment of the district.
