In honor of Women’s History Month, Saint Louis Public Schools proudly recognizes Leanne White, Ed.S, Director of Healthy Schools Initiatives – Academics in Movement, Physical Education & Health. Leanne has been named one of St. Louis Children's Hospital’s 2024 Community & Legislative Advocates of the Year for her exceptional commitment to student and staff wellness.

Since launching the Academics in Movement (AIM) Healthy School Initiative in 2016, Leanne has reshaped the way SLPS approaches health and wellness. Under her leadership:

    • 30 SLPS schools have been recognized as America’s Healthiest Schools
    • Over 12,000 students have benefited from increased physical activity, green spaces, and wellness programs
    • Staff wellness rooms have been introduced, providing spaces for mindfulness, meditation, and movement

Through collaboration with Wellness Champions, the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), and the BJC Office of Community Health Improvement’s School Outreach and Youth Development team, Leanne's efforts have contributed to higher attendance rates and fewer disciplinary incidents in AIM schools.

Her dedication reminds us that student success goes beyond academics—it’s about fostering healthy, supportive environments where students and staff can thrive.

Congratulations, Leanne, on this well-deserved honor and for the lasting impact you continue to make in SLPS!
