Dr. Casetta Brown graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English Education and Communication and Theatre Arts. She relocated to Houston in 2008 to join the Teach For America movement, and taught 6th – 8th grade English for the Houston Independent School District. Casetta served for three years at her placement school as a soccer coach, new-teacher mentor, and grade-level chair. She later joined the Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP), and worked as a 5th grade Reading teacher, English content chair, and grade-level chair for two years. In 2013, Casetta became the founding 6th grade English teacher at YES Prep White Oak. Casetta earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Abilene Christian University May 10, 2014. Casetta returned to her hometown in 2014 as Principal Resident in the Detroit Leads program through Teach For America. She has served at Voyageur Academy as a Dean of Students, Upper School and Operations and the Education Achievement Authority as the Director of Operations. Casetta currently serves scholars in the Saint Louis Public School District as the district’s Culture and Climate Coordinator.
