The Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act (HHFKA), implemented by President Obama in 2010, was created in response to two major problems affecting millions of children in the United States—childhood obesity and child hunger. The HHFKA has provided new guidelines for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs with the goal of improving child nutrition. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is implementing the Community Eligibility Provision Program.

Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE):

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provides the option to offer free meals to all students in eligible high poverty Local Education Agencies (LEA) and schools without collecting household applications.
