Transfer Period for School Year 2024-2025

  • We are excited to announce the voluntary open transfer period will begin on Wednesday, April 10. 2024.  Current SLPS teachers and other school-based employees who are interested in transferring to a different campus for the 2024-2025 school year may apply.  The open transfer period timeline and process is outlined below.

    When can staff apply for a transfer?

    Open transfer period will take place from April 10, 2024 through April 23, 2024. During this period, employees will have the opportunity to transfer into a lateral position at an SLPS campus to fill open positions for the 2024-2025 school year. The employee's current Supervisor will be notified that the employee is requesting to leave the campus and the receiving Supervisor must acknowledge the willingness to accept the transfer. Employees must submit all transfer request forms no later than 11:59pm on April 23, 2024.

    Site leaders will begin conducting interviews on Monday, April 15, 2024 through Friday, April 26, 2024 and will send their final selections to HR by close of business on Monday, April 29th. Notification from Human Resources of approval or denial will be emailed to the employee beginning May 1, 2024. Transfers are not approved until the employee has received an email notification from Human Resources.

    Who can transfer?

    School-based employees (certificated and non-certificated) who meet the following criteria are eligible to request a transfer:

    1. Must be in good standing (must not be on or have failed a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP))
    2. Last performance evaluation must be satisfactory
    3. If requesting a transfer into a teaching position, you must hold a valid Missouri teacher certificate in the requested subject area of the vacancy
    4. If requesting a transfer into a teaching position, you must not be a "teacher in intervention"

    The list of vacancies for school year 2024-2025 will be posted here on April 10, 2024 at 4pm.

    Can I apply for more than one transfer at the same time?

    No. Only one transfer request may be active at a time. If you apply for a transfer and are notified that your transfer has been denied, you may submit another request.

    What is a "lateral transfer"?

    Only lateral transfers are permitted through this process. A lateral transfer occurs when an employee moves from one position to a another in the same job class without a change in status or salary. For example, a special education teacher may request to transfer into a mathematics teacher vacancy if he/she meets the certification requirement. For non-certificated staff, the position(s) you apply for in this transfer window must match your current job title.  

    When will I know if my transfer has been approved?

    You will receive email notifications at each step of the process. You will also receive final notification of your transfer approval or denial from Human Resources beginning May 1, 2024.
