- Applicant must score at or above the 70th percentile level on a standardized test, and in all sub-areas of the test.
- Excellent attendance is expected for admission (90%). Please include documentation if extenuating circumstances exist.
- Applicants must submit a copy of the most recent report card and their last report card of their eighth grade year to validate classroom academic achievement and attendance. This report card must reflect a C or better in all subjects with the exception of Physical Education, Art, Music, and Practical Arts. One letter grade ofD will be acceptable in any one of these four subjects. No D in a core subject is acceptable.
- Applicant must have excellent or good evaluations on each item on the Official Recommendation Checklist Form Recommendations to be submitted by two of the following: applicant’s teacher, counselor, principal or designated administrator.
- STUDENTS APPLYING FOR 10TH GRADE must submit a transcript reflecting all semesters enrolled including the last completed semester and report card from the most recent grading period. The applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.3 and no D’s or F’s on their transcripts. Transcript should validate attendance and grade level. EOC tests scores apply as mentioned above.

Eighth Grade McKinley CJA Middle students must apply for the McKinley high school program
- Copy of 6th, 7th and 8th grade current report cards
- MINIMUM Acceptable Grade in all core classes (Math, English, Science, Social Studies) is a C, A and B grades preferred. With a C grade Student must be proficient or advanced in Communications Arts and Mathematics Scores. or 50th percentile or higher on national normed standardized achievement tests.
- No out of school or in school suspensions one year prior to admission. In school suspensions may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- 90% or higher attendance rate in the year prior to applying McKinley.

- One teacher and one administrator letters of recommendation McKinley 8th graders only need to submit one teacher recommendation.

1. Student must complete and submit an application, signed by parent or guardian, submit a copy of previous year’s report card.
Student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
2. Student must submit copy of previous year’s attendance with attendance. Based on 174 days of school, student must have an attendance rate of at least 90%.
3. Student must submit a copy of the previous year’s discipline report and must be in good citizenship standing.
4. Once all required documents are received, audition dates and time will be scheduled (if student applicant did not participate in the announced and scheduled large group auditions. All SLPS Middle Schools and high schools will be notified of the large group audition dates). Students, who are granted auditions must attend at the scheduled time, come prepared to audition and personally interview with the Fine Arts Instructional staff and administrative staff.
5. All accepted students are expected to attend Central’s 9th grade transition program, parent orientation, preregister and be present on the first day of school.

The goals of Gateway STEM entrance requirements focus on creating an environment fostering high achievement in STEM programs.
- Student must have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math and select and follow one of our STEM majors.
- Student must submit previous year’s transcript or report card and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.
- Student must submit previous year’s attendance. Based on 174 days of school, student must have at least 90% attendance rate
- Student must submit a copy of previous year’s discipline profile.
- All accepted students are expected to attend Gateway’s 9th grade orientation, pre-registration and be present on the first day.
