Flash Mob Background Information
Original Event, year 1, is the collaborative efforts of the City of St. Louis Department of Health, STL Let’s Move (City Health Dept) and St. Louis Public Schools.
Year 2 & 3 of the collaborative effort grew to include - City of St. Louis Department of Health, STL Let’s Move, St. Louis Public Schools, BJCSOYD our Community partner for the HSHC grant and MO Foundation for Health, Healthy Schools Healthy Communities Project.
Year 4 includes all organizations from years 1 – 3 and Aetna.
Description:
Year 1 - May 2014, main event held at Hickey Elementary. Elementary schools across the district participated in the event at their own school.

Approximately 14,000 students/adults participating.
Year 2 – May 2015, main event held at Ball Park Village. Elementary schools and select Middle Schools across the district participated in the event at their own school locations.

Year 3 – May 2016, , main event held at Ball Park Village. Elementary schools and select Middle Schools across the district and Healthy Schools Healthy Communities schools participated in the event at their own school locations. Approximately 52,000 students/adults participating.
Year 4 – May 4, 2018, main event will be held at Busch Stadium on the Ford Plaza. All SLPS schools scheduled to participate across the SLPS district, all 33 HSHC school districts across MO, and Aetna employees in the following states – MO, IL, IA, CT, AK.
Approximate number expected to exceed 52,000
An article featuring the STL Move Your Body Flash Mob will appear on the SHAPE America website in April 2018. The article invites SHAPE Members to participate and share the STL Flash Mob dances & music to SHAPE America Members around the World.
The dance steps for the song Dynamite are performed by our very own students at Carr Lane Visual Performing Arts.
