The Scholar Athlete Essay Competition is one of the elements of the very successful St. Louis Public School District Scholar Athlete Luncheon, which in itself has become one of the most anticipated events of the school year.  The Scholar Athlete Essay Competition is only open to SLPS Scholar Athletes.

 

The 2014 Scholar Athlete Essay Competition was sponsred by CBS Sports 920 AM radio and InsideSTL.Com.  As part of the sponsorship, CBS Sports 920 AM and InsideSTL.Com provided $50 gift cards to each winning essay.  Some of the winning essay writers were invited to record audio of their entire essay and have it featured on the InsideSTL.Com website for listeners of CBS Sports 920 AM to enjoy.  In addition, several of the winning essay writers had portions of their essay recorded and featured in radio commercials aired on CBS Sports 920 AM.

 

During the month of April and May of 2014, CBS Sports 920 AM renamed the listener call-in lines as the "Saint Louis Public School District Scholar Athlete Phone Lines" during the 3pm - 6pm afternoon drive programming period.
