In November, 2009, the Special Administrative Board (SAB) of the St. Louis Public School District approved an Accountability Plan in response to the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP) review conducted during the 2008-2009 school year. The Accountability Plan essentially answers three questions:
1) What does the district need to do in the next 24 months to fix issues identified during the MSIP review
2) What does the district need to do in the next 24 months to regain accreditation
3) How the district will continue to support the comprehensive long range plan in the next 24 months
The Accountability Plan was presented to the Special Administrative Board by Superintendent Dr. Kelvin R. Adams, Dr. Cleopatra Figgures, Deputy Superintendent of Accountability, and Mr. David Lineberry, Associate Executive Director for Education and Training from the Missouri School Board Association. The Special Administrative Board solicited feedback from the public before the Accountability Plan was submitted to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
There are five main areas of the Accountability Plan: Student Performance, Highly Qualified Staff, Facilities/Instructional Programs/Support, Parent and Community Involvement, and Governance. Schools will incorporate objectives and strategies from the five areas into school improvement plans.
An internal monitoring process has been set up to monitor the implementation of the plan and neighborhood meetings will be held in the Spring 2010 to provide the community with an update on the status of the Accountability Plan. Meeting dates and locations will be listed on this link.
