Greetings, Metro Students and Families!
On behalf of the Metro Team, we look forward to welcoming our new families and reconnecting with our returning families.
I am excited to embark on my third year at Metro Academic and Classical High School. In my role as principal, my primary objective is to uphold the school’s rich legacy and sustain the exceptional and vibrant school community that Metro is recognized for today. Moreover, my dedication to education is grounded in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the school community. I am deeply committed to ensuring that ALL members of the Metro school community feel seen, heard, valued, know that they matter, and most importantly, know that they belong.
We have much to celebrate, including maintaining our ranking as the leading Public High School in Missouri and earning statewide recognition as a distinguished 2024 Missouri Gold Star School by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. These achievements are a testament to the quality of the rigorous academic program at Metro and the dedicated efforts of our students and staff. Moving forward, we are committed to the following initiatives: school-wide community service days and the Metro Learning Academy on Saturdays. In addition to these ongoing endeavors, we have expanded our array of courses this school year to offer students a more diverse selection, offering them more opportunities for their intellectual pursuits. Exciting new additions to our curriculum include AP African American Studies, AP Chemistry, Honors Government, Honors 9th Grade English, and Vocal Ensemble.
This school year, several new staff members are joining the Metro Team. Please extend a warm welcome to Mr. Joseph Cooper, Assistant Principal; Mr. Jonathan Boyle, English; Mr. Drew Gillum, Math; Mr. Ruben Medina-Perez, Science; Mrs. Dana Siegrist, English; Mr. Tanguy Gnahore “Mr. Franklin”, Music; Mrs. Bridget McCarthy-Hilgeman, Library Media Specialist; and Ms. Naudia Langston, Building Learning Associate.
The Metro Team is unwaveringly committed to providing our students with the best academic experience and being your partner in education to ensure that ALL our students succeed. We look forward to seeing students on the first day of school on August 19, 2024.
Your partner in education,
Dr. Tina Hamilton
