Greetings Metro Families!

I am so thrilled to introduce myself as the new college counselor at Metro for the 2022-2023 school year. We have a lot of work ahead and I'm so excited to be part of this pivotal time in your educational journey. 

Like most college counselors, I am a college nerd who found the field by complete accident. I grew up all over the country graduating high school in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I was a first-generation college student and earned a BA in History at Brigham Young University. I also hold an M.Ed. in Counseling from UNC-Chapel Hill, where I was a Master’s Merit Fellow. I began my college counseling career in 2013 when I found a role at College Bound St Louis, a local non-profit dedicated to helping first-generation and low-income students through the college process. There I became obsessed with the field of college admissions and college access. As a college counselor, I honed my expertise by working with students throughout St Louis, developing unique plans for students that helped lead to their admission to schools all over the country. I've helped students from a wide range of personal situations find their fit at almost every kind of college, often with their financial needs fully met. I've found that students who are given straight-forward information, clear direction, and a lot of care make confident choices. We can't erase the uncertainty inherent in the college application process, but I work with every student to make sure they navigate the process, honoring both their thoughts and their feelings. After College Bound, I gained experience on the university side in financial aid at UMSL and first-year student transitions at Webster University.
