Compton-Drew ILC Middle School

My name is Catherine Kimani and I am the Academic Instructional Coach (AIC) at Compton-Drew Middle School. I work closely with the principal, teachers, staff, and students in the area of academics. As a coach, my main role is supporting teachers to improve their teaching practices. My experience as a high school math teacher at various high schools in SLPS prepared me for the AIC role.

This year, school is going to be different from what we are all use to. However, we will make every effort, at Compton-Drew, to ensure that your child gets a good experience with virtual learning. Teachers will be teaching live classes every day. Please encourage your child to attend class ready to learn.

I moved to the US from Kenya and have called St. Louis home for the last 22 years. I speak multiple languages including Swahili and as such forge close relationships with English Language Learners (ELL) students and parents at Compton-Drew. If you are an ELL student, I encourage you to reach out to me or the ELL teacher. I may not have all the answers. But I will do my best to help you and your family get the right information during these unprecedented times.
