  • Welcome to Carnahan STEAM, Families!

Carnahan has been a blessing to me since I joined the school in January 2009. I began as a Physical Education/Health teacher where I served in that role for five years. While serving as a teacher, I got the opportunity to serve as Varsity Boys Basketball coach for a total of 8 years. After serving five years in the classroom, I was promoted to assistant principal and served in this role for three years.  I am currently serving in my eighth year as principal. I have learned from various mentors to help me become the leader I am today.  These key members are Dr. Alice Roach (Former Carnahan Principal, Parsons Blewitt Chair), Dr. Bruce Green (Former Carnahan principal, Associate superintendent of Ritenour School District), and Mr. Tony Thompson (Founder of KWAME ). Under their guidance, I was able to develop and evolve as not only a teacher but also as a leader.  Dr. Roach pushed me and helped set high expectations for everyone. Dr. Green while serving as principal, was the one who encouraged me to go into leadership and put me in leadership opportunities while serving as a teacher. I was requested to be in charge of various groups around the school, specifically the Gentlemen's Club, where I worked directly with Tony Thompson.

I believe that every child should have an equal opportunity to learn and have access to a high-quality curriculum integrating STEAM learning into every phase of school. Carnahan STEAM has a primary mission to create a family environment where all students are safe and part of a nurturing environment. The goal is for all students to acquire the critical thinking and STEAM literacy skills needed to be successful in this ever-changing future. Also, making sure all students have a healthy balance of athletics, activities, and academics in the middle school experience is vital in the development of the student.

I look forward to serving the child and partnering with the parents to create an environment where everyone matters and making sure we develop and grow together.
