Peace, family. I am Malik Shabazz, the current physical education teacher at Carnahan STEM Middle school. I have a deep passion & devotion for fitness & physical training. It’s something that has been a part of my daily routine for almost 20 years now. I grew up playing sports - football, basketball, baseball, & soccer. Physical training builds mental fortitude, confidence, discipline, character & so much more. I believe that physical fitness & physical education are vital because the body is your temple. You must keep the temple in the most optimal shape for peak performance.

I attended Carnahan High School of The Future as a student and then went to attend Tennessee State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications with a focus on Journalism. I teach because I want to be the positive role model & male figure within my students' lives that will help guide them down the right path in life to be as successful as possible. Giving back to the community by guiding & molding the young minds of the future is vital. It’s a responsibility that I take seriously, because the children look up to us at all times & it is my duty to do right by my students. 

I’m excited about the new school year! We're fully a middle school this year, 6th grade through 8th. I’m ready to meet the new incoming students, continuing to grow & foster relationships with returning students. I’m excited to make this year great with new opportunities & many successes!!!
