    TIPS FOR PARENTS

    Tip sheet to guide conversations with your teens - "The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in thousands of children being separated from loved ones who require isolation and/ or hospitalization due to a loved one testing positive for COVID-19 or because of potential exposure for essential workers. For some children, the separation may result in distress or in a traumatic reaction. If a loved one dies from the virus, a child may experience traumatic grief due the sudden nature of the death and being unable to say goodbye or observe cultural or religious mourning rituals. This tip sheet is for caregivers or other adults supporting children with traumatic separation or traumatic grief related to COVID-19. Especially in stressful times, in addition to the suggestions here, all children benefit from caregivers listening to and validating their different feelings."

    In response to COVID-19, for a limited time offering the 1-2-3 Wellness online video course (normally $500) for FREE to support educators and parents during this stressful time. The research-based course includes powerful videos and an e-workbook packed with research-based tools to support stress reduction and increases in mindfulness, social and emotional learning and self-care tools.

     SELF-CARE IDEAS

    1. Read those not-work-related books you’ve been putting off.
    2. Do something creative - there are many small businesses and artists offering free virtual classes and projects.
    3. Turn off the news and limit social media use - know the limits of what you can absorb for the day.
    4. FaceTime or video chat with friends and family you can’t see in person during this time.
    5. Work on a house project you’ve been putting off for a while.

    7. Limit your work accessibility to focus on self-care and family.
