Saxophones
There are LOTS of different types of saxophones! The four most common are Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone. When you first start playing the saxophone, you will most likely start on either the Alto or Tenor saxophones. You might move to the Baritone in middle school, and you might use the Soprano in high school. Saxophones can play MANY different types of music, like classical, jazz, funk, pop and still more!
Like other woodwind instruments, all of the notes on the saxophones are played the same. For example, the way you push keys down to play an A flat on the Soprano sax is the same way that you push keys down to play A flat on the Baritone sax. So, once you learn how to play one type of saxophone, you can play them all!
