Mr. Michael Decker
My name is Michael Decker. I'm a Special Education Teacher at Busch Middle School of Character. I'm a United States Marine Corps Veteran, and I'm a proud member of the Disabled American Veterans organization which helps disabled veterans receive the care they need. Having served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Iraqi Freedom helped fulfill one of the two life goals I had when I was ten years old. The first was to serve in the military, and the second was to become a Social Studies, or Special Education teacher. Working as a paraprofessional gave me something that I did not realize until I started working in a school. I could be a successful educator and give back to the community. I'm very adaptive and have shown tremendous determination to get to this point in my professional career. I'm very motivated and driven to be my best every day to give every student the education they deserve. I believe everything is earned and not given, and I will make sure I do everything possible to ensure my students succeed in my classroom. That valuable experience will be helpful as I work with students in my classroom and give every student equal opportunities to succeed. I'm fortunate to work with the best educators in the state of Missouri at Busch Middle School of Character.
In my free time,
I'm a huge soccer fan, and I'm part of several different supporters groups that give back to many different charities across the St. Louis region.
I also try to play golf as much as possible, and I have been very fortunate to play at many different golf courses in the St. Louis area, and in the United States as well.
I try to read as much as possible. My preferred genres are Non-Fiction, History, and Military History.
