Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year.  My name is Dektric Washington.  I am the Behavior Intervention Specialist at Gateway MST Middle School.  I am excited about the new school year.  I will be providing a safe space to help students towards positive thinking and behavior.  Through love and high expectations, our students will learn to see the power they have in the world.

What is PBIS? 

PBIS is a proactive, team-based framework for creating and sustaining safe and effective schools with emphasis being placed on prevention of problem behavior and development of pro-social skills.  School-wide PBIS increases the capacity of schools to educate all scholars utilizing research-based school-wide, classroom and individualized interventions.

The ultimate goal of PBIS is to increase academic performance, decrease problem behavior, increase safety and establish a positive school culture and climate that is conducive to learning.
