Biography:

My name is Angela Keely. I'm a native of St. Louis and a graduate of Central Visual and Performing Arts High School.  I've studied music education at Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

As an educator of music, it is my deepest desire to develop a musical community for students to build on their strengths, grow from their weaknesses, and strengthen personal relationships among peers.  My mission is to develop a safe atmosphere that encourages risk, growth, mistakes, and persistence with a focus on excellence.  I am committed to guiding students in developing values of long-lasting attributes that lead to success.  I've taught band and general music at Gateway for five years. Prior to SLPS, I also worked  ten years in the Confluence Academy School District.

Gateway Community and Public Performances:

Board of Education Welcome Back Rally 2019, Winter and Spring Concerts annually, Black History Program, St. Louis Jazz Academy at the Bistro, Des Lee Honor Band at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, SLPS District Band Festival and Adjudication annually, and Performances with Gateway Elementary and Gateway Michael

Organizations: Mu Phi Epsilon (professional music fraternity), Zeta Phi Beta Inc., and contracted musicians for Peoples Community Christian Church, Bernean and Antioch District Churches.

Personal Accomplishments:  Performed at Carnegie Hall with SIU-Edwardsville Symphonic Band, 3 time Powell Symphony Hall Music Scholar, Desmond E. Lee Scholar, Blanche M. Touhill Distinguished Music Scholar, and Music Education Student of the Year (SIU-Edwardsville).
