National Assessments

  • The ASPIRE: helps 9th-10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success and provides information needed to address school districts' high-priority issues. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years. The two predictor tests for the ACT® are the EXPLORE® and the PLAN®.


    ACT: The ACT® test assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.


    PSAT: The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship (NMSC) Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for theSAT®. It also gives students a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

    SAT: The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. 

     

    Technical Skill Attainment Assessments (TSA): A technical skill assessment measures skill proficiency of Career and Technical Education (CTE) students who are concentrators (a student who has earned three or more sequential credits in any state-approved CTE program grades 9-12) and has completed an approved CTE program. (It is not intended to be taken after every course).

    The ASVAB: test is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. The ASVAB tests in eight different areas. The test has proven to be a good measure of how students have developed both academic and occupational skills.  It also measures aptitudes that are related to success in different jobs as well as training and education programs.
