Sergeant Major (Retired) Walter Wright is a 22 years U.S.. Army veteran. His position is the Senior Army Instructor for Vashon High School Honor Unit with Distinction JROTC program. Prior to assuming duties at Vashon High School, he served as the Senior Army Instructor at Beaumont High School.

He is a Mississippi native and attended Coahoma County High School. During this time of service to his country, Sergeant Major (Retired) Wright obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Logistics. While working at Beaumont High School, he earned his Master of Education degree. 

Sergeant Major (Retired) Wright parents are deceased. His immediate family members are his wife, Mary, daughter Shereka (Division 1 women basketball college coach) and granddaughter Lennox Latrell Wright.
