• In my role as Assistant Principal, I work collaboratively with Dr. Wallace and Sumner’s staff to increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction and student outcomes. I also engage with students and work to provide support and structure throughout Sumner.

My leadership is centered around empowering teachers to make decisions and pursue new methods or strategies in order to improve student outcomes and increase equity within learning environments. I am honored to be able to support teachers and staff here at Sumner as well as learn side-by-side with them each day.  I have a profound respect for all those in the field of education who are committed to doing what it takes to support students and ensuring that they themselves are continuous learners.

As Assistant Principal, my door is always open and I welcome your conversation and collaboration throughout this year.  I look forward to celebrating our future collective successes throughout the 2024-2025 school year at Sumner.

Feel free to ask me all about the amazing things teachers and students at Sumner High School are doing!

Ms. LaBoo's Bio: Born and raised in St. Louis, this is my 17th year with St. Louis Public Schools and my 6th year as a Sumner Bulldog! Prior to working at Sumner, I taught English for 8 years and engaged as an instructional coach for 6 years. This is my 4th year as a school leader. Throughout my time in SLPS, I obtained a Masters Degree in counseling as well as my Ed.S. in school leadership. Most recently, I obtained a K-12 literacy specialist certification from The University of Missouri, St. Louis.

Other than that, I have two children who keep me busy and laughing. If I am not supporting students or staff at Sumner, I am probably with my family. You might find me reading, gardening, traveling, or hanging out with my 2 doodles: Captain and Barky Clarky.
