Mr. Gary (Nick) Mason
As a 35-year-Veteran Science teacher, Mr. Mason has taught multiple Science courses from Biology and Chemistry to Ecology and Environmental Science, General Science, and Physical Science. Mr. Mason's experience includes 4 years as a Middle School Science teacher at Valley Park Middle School, 23 years at Normandy Senior High School including 4 years as the PAL Center Science Instructor (A second chance program where students blended normal classroom instruction with online learning using Nova Net, Edmentum and other programs to access and complete their specific courses while working at their own pace.) His last year at Normandy was teaching Middle school. After retiring from Normandy in 2014, Mr. Mason continued to work as a home-bound Instructor for Special School District. In 2019-2020, Mr. Mason joined the Sumner Teaching staff where he teaches Biology, Environmental Science, and Physics.
Mr. Mason's background is diverse, including working in the fields of housing construction, high-rise construction, railroad construction, and Offshore Oil rig construction to name a few. His travels are also diverse, visiting France, Italy, and Spain. He has spent time abroad, living a year in France and learning the language and fencing. He has traveled much of the US as well, from Hawaii to California, Florida to Washington D.C., and most states in between.
