    Hello, I am Mrs. Cedeno

    Here is a little information about me:

    This is my 12th year teaching at Sumner High School. Our school was the first high school for African-American students west of the Mississippi River in the United States. It is my privilege to keep the legacy of this historical school. I am married and my husband does nuclear engineering where he is an engineer working for TBA. We have three children. One is working in Germany with Bosch, my middle daughter is taking her Ph.D. at Imperial College in London, and my son is still in college. All of my children are bilingual because my husband and I talk Spanish at home. My husband and I study together and we moved to the United States from Panama in 1989. 

    Some of my favorite things are chocolate cake with almonds or cherries. I love country music and always try to find similarities between different countries. I am not a good dancer. I admire people with skills at dancing. I have a love for teaching mathematics. 

    I am looking forward to establishing a good relationship with my students and treating them as family. I would love to meet all of my students' parents to exchange ideas with them and most importantly, be part of a great new successful school year.

    I want students to develop and hone their reasoning and critical thinking skills so they can engage in the world around them and feel empowered.

    Students are invited to “hands-on” projects such as research, case studies, or real-life activities.
    When students are actively involved in applying course content to answer questions, solve problems, and other activities beyond just receiving content, learning can improve as well as motivation for learning.

     By starting with engaging projects, my purpose is to will grab the student's interest while establishing a solid foundation of important skills, such as knowing how to conduct, collaborate, and engage in critical thinking in the classroom.
