    • Sensory Paths

Sensory pathways can provide a fun, movement break during a long day of learning.  They encourage gross motor skills, such as strengthening, balance and jumping.

    • Balance skills

Working on balance is important for most children with a physical disability.  These simple activties can be fun and challenging.  If they are too hard for your child to attempt, just hold their hand while they are attempting the skill.  Eventually, you may be able to give less assistance as their balance improves.

    • Just Keep Moving

Go Noodle is a fun website that is frequently used in school.  The students may recognize it from PE classes.  Warning:  it can be a good workout, but very fun!!

    • Stretching Exercise

Stretching is a great activity for anyone who sits at a desk.  It is especially important for children with Cerebral Palsy or other neurological conditions that cause stiffness of the joints and muscles.  These exercises can be done at least daily and about 10 repetitions per exercise.  Remember to only stretch to point of mild discomfort, and hold the position for a count of five.  Stretching should be gradual and not painful!!
