Mrs. Nason
Hi, my name is Heather Nason and I am excited to be your student’s teacher!
I graduated from The University of Phoenix in Earth City with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2014. I earned my Master of Education as a Reading Specialist in December 2019 from Missouri Baptist University. My certifications are elementary, early childhood, special education, middle school language arts, health, and special reading. While attending classes at the Earth City campus, I completed over 370 hours of field experience in a wide variety of schools. I performed student teaching in a second grade classroom at Brown Elementary in the Hazelwood School District. Since then, I was a substitute teacher working with all grade levels in Hazelwood. I also taught a fourth grade summer school class at Armstrong Elementary in Hazelwood. During the 2015-16 school year, I was a first grade teacher at Jamaa Learning Center in North St. Louis City. After Jamaa closed, I became a 2nd-5th grade special education teacher at Mullanphy Botanical Investigative Learning Center from 2016-2017. For the 2017-2018 school year, I taught 1st-3rd grade special education. The past four years I have taught pre-k. This year, 2022-2023, I will be teaching ESOL.
I have lived in St. Louis my whole life. In my free time, my husband and I enjoy traveling, gardening, float trips, swimming, playing with pets, and spending time with my family. I have a 23-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.
I am thrilled to be an ESOL teacher at Mullanphy Botanical Garden Investigative Learning Center. I look forward to getting to know each student, and plan on creating a positive, personalized learning environment for everyone. I am looking forward to a great year.
My goal is that every student, when they are in my classroom, will have a surprising amount of fun while becoming excellent readers and mathematicians.
I’m very excited to be working with you and your child this year! If you have any questions or concerns, you may call and leave a message at 636-686-0666, or send an e-mail to: heather.nason@slps.org. We will be using Class Dojo to communicate during the year. Please sign up.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nason
