Hi all!  My name is Amira Herndon.  This is my 27th year here at Mullanphy.  This year I will continue teaching fifth grade math, but I have taught fourth, third, and second grades.  I also worked as a class size reduction teacher, which is a teacher who works with small groups of students working on specific skills.  I studied Elementary Education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri with a minor in mathematics.  This has led me to love teaching mathematics and explore new ways to answer and solve problems.

Teaching has always been something that I've wanted to do.  I love working with children and helping them better themselves for the future.  I care about my students and I value their ideas, thoughts, and actions.  My philosophy is simple.  I believe that every child can learn and be able to set goals towards success.  I want students to be successful and have fun while learning.  My hope is that I will continue to make a difference individually and collectively in my students' lives.

Some of my favorite things are:

Math, elephants, colors: purple, black, silver, and red, working out, watching movies, cooking, chocolate, and just spending time with family and friends.
